How This Works
Meet Your Beekeeper
After we have communicated through an email or phone call we will arrange a time to meet with you and install your beehive in the approved location.
Appreciate Your Bees
We perform routine checks on the hives, keep records of behavior and health, and put together an action plan to keep the beehive humming along. You will have an opportunity to work with the beekeeper in the inspections and care of hive. Hosting a hive is a great way to learn about beekeeping and what’s required if you want your own beehive one day.
Harvesting the Honey
Once the colony produces more honey than the bees need, we’ll extract the extra honey and share one quart of raw honey with you per hive. If your hive fails or does not make any extra honey that year (which sometimes happens) you will receive a quart of honey from one of the other hives in our program
Basic Requirements
Comfortable with us stopping by and checking on bees when you are not home or unannounced.
If the physical hive itself is stolen or damaged a fee will be assessed for repair or replacement.
Bees and equipment remain ours. If you find yourself really enjoying having bees on your property then an offer can be made to purchase.
Applicants will be accepted on a first come first serve bases until all available hives are placed. Further applicants will be placed on a waiting list.
Anytime honeybees are present there is a risk of getting stung. Applicants are willing to accept this risk.
